OVERVIEW
Kovir is a confirmed region shown in The Witcher IV's Unreal Engine 5 technical presentation. CD Projekt Red describes it as a never-before-seen region for the video game series.
The tech demo follows Ciri and her horse Kelpie through Kovir's rugged mountains and dense forests before reaching the port town of Valdrest. The presentation was designed to show the technology powering the open world rather than a final gameplay sequence.
The Far North
Kovir has long been part of Witcher lore, but The Witcher IV marks its first major appearance in CD Projekt Red's game materials. The region shown in the technical presentation combines alpine roads, thick forest, and coastal settlement design.
In The Technical Presentation
The 2025 presentation uses Kovir to demonstrate open-world streaming, visual fidelity, crowd systems, animation, and environmental density. It establishes the region as an important part of The Witcher IV's public reveal, while the full game map remains unrevealed.
