Lore
The setting and narrative foundations of The Witcher IV's new saga.
The Witcher IV begins a new saga in the dark-fantasy world created by Andrzej Sapkowski and continued in CD Projekt Red's game series. Its story centers on Ciri, whose life as a professional monster slayer provides a new perspective on witchers, contracts, magic, and the societies of the Continent.

A New Saga
The game follows the conclusion of Geralt of Rivia's trilogy while retaining the history and relationships that shaped Ciri. CD Projekt Red presents the project as the first chapter of a new Witcher saga rather than a reset of the existing world.
The reveal trailer places Ciri inside a traditional witcher conflict. A monster threatens a remote village, but the contract is inseparable from ritual, fear, and the actions of the villagers themselves.
Kovir is the first major region shown for the new game. Its mountains, forests, and port settlement of Valdrest extend the game series into a northern part of the Continent that had not previously received a major playable presentation.
